The Texas Wagyu “The Steaks Are High” Sale was well attended with 80 registered buyers from 12 States and two foreign countries. There was an overall sale gross of $502,760.
The top selling lot was lot 1, the rights to clone Kaedemaru, a red donor cow sired by DAI 10 Mitsumaru and out of DAI-SAN Namiaki NI. She sold to Sexing Technologies Inc, Navasota, TX for $20,000 and was consigned by Wagyu Sekai Inc, Ontario, Can. The next high selling female was KR Ms Itomichi 142, a January 2013 open heifer sired by TF Itomichi ½ and out of KR Kiku 092. She was consigned by Kay Ranch and sold to Ed Traylor, Fort Payne, AL for $11,500. Lot 22, BLB Ms Sazanami 1212, a September 2012 bred heifer sired by Sanjirou and out of KR 068-2 that was bred to KR Time Line 130, was consigned by Brandon Baker and sold to Zen 10 and Clear Creek Cattle, Ocala, FL for $11,000. WSI Fujiko 2, Lot 3, a February 2008 daughter of Hirashigeharu and is out of WSI Fujiko, sold to Zen 10 and Clear Creek Cattle, Ocala, FL and was consigned by Wagyu Sekai, Ontario, Can.
The top selling bull was Lot 81, WCC Chubby Buddy, an October 2012 red fullblood bull sired by Sumo Cattle Co Seisakushu and out of Sumo Cattle Co Hinode C157. He was consigned by Whitmer Cattle Co., Fort Ann, NY and was purchased by Justin Boersma, Gladstone, ND for $12,000. Justin Boersma also purchased JC Rueshaw 76, a January 2013 red fullblood sired by Rueshaw and out of JC Ms Hikari 40 for $7,500. He was consigned by Chisholm Cattle Co, Wimberly, TX. The second high selling bull was LTR Shigefuji 307, Lot 64, a January 2013 black fullblood sired by World K’s Shigeshigetani and out of LTR Ms Fuji DAI Terutani. He was consigned by Tebben Ranch, Floresville, TX and was purchased by Kahlig Ranches, San Antonio, TX for $9,000. Lot 63, TRR Haruki Cuatro, a March 2013 black fullblood son of World K’s Haruki 2 and out of FC Ms Tak 22 sold to Keith Hufsey, Weatherford, TX for $7,000. He was consigned by Turner River Ranch, Medina, TX.
The top selling Embryos, Lot 102, were five female sexed red fullblood embryos sired by Kalanga Red Star and out of Kalanga Empress Fuyuko E115. The embryos were consigned by Bald Ridge Wagyu of Australia and sold to Crescent Harbor Ranch, Oak Harbor, WA for $1,450 each. Crescent Harbor also bid $985 on lot 104, five red fullblood embryos sired by Bald Ridge Henshin and out of Bald Ridge Homare Blue and consigned by Bald Ridge Wagyu.
Two heifer pregnancies out of Bay Shige Miki 118, a daughter of Shigeshigetani and sired by the bull of the buyers choice sold for $5,500 each to Stony Run Farms, Spring City, PA. This lot was consigned by Greenman Farms of Wisconsin.
