Important Changes For TWA Annual Meeting and Steaks Are High Sale
The Texas Wagyu Association (“TWA”) today announced that its board of directors (the “Board”) met yesterday to consider options related to the upcoming annual general meeting and the 11th Annual Steaks Are High Wagyu Sale, as well as the related 2nd Annual TWA Carcass Competition, all scheduled for April 24th and 25th at Salado, Texas.
The Board considered the current “social distancing” requirements related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the recommendations of the federal government and the CDC regarding limiting gatherings, as well the interests of TWA members, and took the following actions, which were unanimously approved by all board members:
- The currently scheduled TWA annual general meeting will be postponed and possibly changed to a “virtual” meeting. The Board will evaluate the situation over the coming weeks and decide if it is best to conduct a “virtual” annual general meeting, or reschedule the physical “in person” meeting for a later date, perhaps as far in the future as the fall of 2020. A future communication will be sent regarding this matter.
- The currently scheduled “in person at Tenroc Ranch at Salado” 11th Annual Steaks Are High Sale will be changed to an “online” sale conducted through Superior Auctions, on the same date, subject to working out the details with Superior Auctions. The Board considered the need to eliminate a physical meeting that would result in a large physical gathering of TWA members and others, as well as the needs of TWA members to continue to conduct business. The deadline for submitting lot consignment nominations has been extended one week to Friday, March 27, 2020. All other criteria and requirements for making consignments to the sale remain the same. The consignment nomination form and instructions that was emailed to TWA members by Schacher Auction Services on February 18, 2020 is available by CLICKING HERE.
- The currently scheduled 2nd Annual TWA Carcass Competition, which was scheduled to be held in conjunction with the Salado event, will still be held, with the animals being harvested and evaluated as previously planned, and the sale of the contest carcasses will be conducted online, subject to working out the details of such an online carcass auction.
The Board feels that given the rapidly changing pandemic situation, the above actions are in the best interest of the TWA and its members.
